This is a more complex board reinforcing what is, or is not, acceptable behavior. It is adaptable to the individual's needs, as it comes with 17 different behavior cards included for use on the board. It can also be used with your existing PECS symbols. it serves as a visual reminder to the individual, without the need for verbal intervention, and can be used as an interactive learning tool to teach individuals about appropriate behavior. The use of positive behaviors on the chart as well as negative helps with positive reinforcement and means that behavior rules are not reduced to a series of restrictions on what the individual can do, something that can cause anxieties and behaviors. This can be used as a way of getting the individual to understand the expectations on them, and for them to take responsibility for modifying their behavior according to social demands. This is something that someone with ASD can struggle to do, and this board is a useful step in that journey. this product, like all our products, was inspired by some of the difficulties we have gone through in raising our own autistic son over the years, and includes a lot of strategies that have helped him to cope with some of the challenges life can bring.
