The Yamaha YZR500 (OW48R) is the machine which took 'King Kenny' Roberts to the third of his world titles and was the most successful of Yamaha's Grand Prix racers in the period when it was fought over by 500cc two-stroke machines from Japan's major manufacturer teams, viz. Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha.
