In this 1956 musical, teenager Dori (Tuesday Weld, “Once Upon a Time in America”) desperately tries to earn enough money to buy a dress for the school dance. Rock ‘n’ roll stars LaVerne Baker, Chuck Berry, the Johnny Burnette Trio, Jimmy Cavallo House Rockers, Cirino and the Bowties, the Coney Island Kids, the Flamingos, Frankie Lyman and the Teenagers, the Moonglows and Teddy Randazzo all appear in the film. The film’s soundtrack album of the same name is widely considered to be Chuck Berry’s first album.
