This mix is composed of large, beautifully-colored yellow, red, blue, purple, and white flowering pansies. Great for flower boxes, containers, and beds. Plants grow to 4"-10" and produce 2"-3" flowers in an array of single and bi-colors. They overwinter quite well here in Ohio (zone 5/6) but are considered a hardy annual. Seeds will produce flowers in the first year if planted early.

Growing Pansies

Pansy seeds are fairly difficult to germinate and require very specific conditions. However, with the proper attention they can be grown successfully from seed.

It is best to put your seeds in the refrigerator for several days before starting them. You will want to start your seed at a fairly cool temperature, 60F to 65F. Sprinkle your seeds onto your starting mix, then sprinkle more mix over the seeds to cover with about 1/8" of soil- they need to be covered- and place them in a dark room. Keep them moist and cool, and away from sunlight. Water sparingly to keep damp (not wet). The most common causes of failure are excessive moisture and too much light!!!!

Once you see a few leaves appear, in 20 days or so, you can move them to a sunnier, warm place. Give them a few days to acclimate and they can then be transplanted. If you seed outside, just make sure that there is some soil covering them. That's it- cool and dark until they emerge.
