Second Skin OverKill Pro is a 3/8 inch thick closed cell foam that should primarily be used as a decoupler to prevent rattling by plastic panels, mass loaded vinyl, speakers, and other metal parts of the vehicle. Overkill Pro also reduces music distortions caused by sound waves bouncing around the vehicle's cabin, helping to improve the audio system acoustics in much the same way that a carpet reduces echos in an empty room. As a closed cell foam, OverKill Pro will absorb some low frequency sound waves, targeting road noise, engine noise, and exhaust noise. Polyethylene foam has been tested for safety and will not off-gas chemicals, making it safe for use inside vehicles.
Pro Tips:
Use OverKill Pro as a decoupler under a mass loaded vinyl product (ours is called Luxury Liner) on the floor, firewall, and trunk to create an extremely effective noise barrier.Some of our professional installers swear by stuffing OverKill Pro into any gap where plastic panels can rattle (even cupholders!), shaving a couple of decibels just by ensuring all your paneling is cushioned.We recommend applying closed cell foam with a high temperature spray adhesive or super strong double sided tape. Second Skin offers options for both.Always apply OverKill Pro to the interior of the car cabin.
