This cleaning and maintenance kit works well to help keep your SMALL oak barrel clean, sanitized and sealed from leaks. Also includes storage tablets that can be used to store your barrel with water and prevent mold. If you have a barrel larger than a 1 gallon (5 liter) then you will want more than one cleaning kit for larger sizes.
- 1/2 oz barrel wax – Used to seal small leaks from crevices in the oak barrel. Will not affect the flavor or taste of your aging liquor. Applied to the outside of the barrel
- 1 tbsp Citric Acid – Great neutralizer and holding solution for water storage of your oak barrels. If you store your barrel it has to be wet. If you use water you will get mold and bacteria unless you use something to keep bacteria from growing.
- 1 tbsp Oxy-San – Great for sanitizing your new barrel or after each use. Also can be used to sanitize any other home brew equipment
- 4 Campden Tablets – used for sterilizing the oak aging barrel. By adding Campden Tablets a day before adding your wine, you can start your aging with a clean slate, so to speak.
- Enough ingredients for a small oak barrel up to 5 liters. If you have a larger barrel you will need more than one kit.
