The Diesel exhaust fluid reservoir is a reductant heater that enables the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to function at low temperatures. DEF freezes easily and needs to be melted in the shortest possible time for the SCR to reduce the amount of Nitrogen Oxides and release them into the exhaust system lowering the concentration of nitrogen oxide in the diesel emissions from the engine.
If you are experiencing a CEL with a DTC code of P20BA or your vehicle is operating at a reduced power then you may have a problem with your diesel exhaust fluid reservoir heater.
