Open pollinated. Heirloom. Plants grow to 4 or 5 feet. Chenopodium quinoa is native to the Peruvian Andes where it has been an important food crop for 5,000 years. The small white seeds are harvested and used like a rice or grain. Rinse seeds with warm water before cooking. Young greens can be added to salads. Hot pink and white seed heads are striking in the late summer to fall garden.
