Difficult to eradicate, Yellowdock is often found alongside parking lots, roadsides, ditches, and other disturbed land. It was once native to Europe by can now be found in any temperate climate with sun or partial shade. Its yellow, foot-long taproots bear smooth leaves and pale green drooping flowers. Its botanical name is Rumex crispus and common names include Curled Dock, Narrow Dock or Garden Patience. While it is now a member of the rumex genus it was once a member of the lapathum family, Greek meaning "to cleanse." Cleanses and Purifies Native Americans used Yellowdock for cuts and scrapes. Its constituents include naturally occurring beta-carotene, quercetin, tannin, iron, vitamin C and more. Today it is most commonly prized by herbalists for its traditional ability to stimulate the removal of toxins to restore the body to a healthy balance.
