Never Had a Welsh Cake? You're not alone, they're relatively new and unknown in America but they have been around since well before there WAS an America. Welsh Cakes are a hand griddled cake from a time before baking when people used to cook over the open fire. Our cakes are made by hand on griddles as they have been made in Wales for centuries. We have a unique recipe that makes our caked lighter and not particularly high in fat or calories. They go great with tea, coffee, and milk. They are often served warm with clotted cream and jam but you can eat them right out of the package. Why have a scone when you can have something nicer and more flavorful like a Welsh Cakes? Each of our cakes is 2.5" in diameter and 1/2" tall and weigh about 1 ounce each, they are a very typical size and weight for this type of traditional Celtic tea cake.
