Product Review
The flavor of this broccoli will make you never buy store-bought again. Plants bear good crops of 5-6" heads. Calabrese broccoli is also known as Italian green and is the most-common variety of broccoli in the United States. Its signature main head is surrounded by several side shoots that resemble a very compact, green flower. A cool-season vegetable, Calabrese broccoli is a fine fall and winter planting project that yields delicious results.
Start spring seedlings 4-6 weeks before last frost. Start fall transplants 2-3 months before first frost. Plant in ground when 3" tall and bury stem 1" deeper than they were in your pots. When transplanting, enrich soil with a little blood and bone meal. Once main head is cut, harvest side shoots for several weeks.
