Country of origin: USA Brugmansias, or Angel's Trumpets, as they are commonly called, are a species of semi tropical large growing flowering shrubs that mature into multi stemed semi-trees that bloom throughout the warm season in cycles of large, upside down hanging, trumpet shaped flowers.

They are easy, very rewarding to grow, and make interesting garden specimen plants.Â Â Not only do Angel's Trumpet lend a very romantic, elegant, 'Wisteria Lane' sort of look in a tropical to subtropical landscape, but the flowers are highly fragrant, especially at night and attract butterflies & hummingbirds as well.

Generally they come in shades of pink, peach, white and yellow, and will bloom a least 2 or 3 times each year, although the cycle is unpredictable and seems to be controlled by temperature light. They are semi tropical, but are frequently grown in colder zones as potted plants that are over-wintered indoors.

Shredded White (also sold as Fantasy) is a very unique and interesting serendipitous Brugmansia candida hybrid credit for discovery to Bruce Pearson of Tropical World de las Flores in Mexico. The slightly green toned, stark white flowers are made of up of several distinctly separated large, ruffled, single petals that fall from a single sepal, ending in sharp pointed short whiskers.

Brugmansias, or Angels Trumpets, are fast-growing, tropical shrubs with beautiful, trumpet-shaped flowers. They are highly fragrant at night and lend a romantic feel to any garden location. Mature plants will cycle into bloom several times during the warm season and are a nectar source for night pollinators such as Luna moths.
Shredded White or Fantasy is an unusual serendipitous Brugmansia candida hybrid discovered in a nursery in Mexico. It has a markedly different twisted double form made of up of several separate long, ruffled, single petals that fall from a single sepal, ending in sharp pointed short whiskers. The blooms hang upside down at near 90º angle
Care: The most suitable planting location for Brugmansia is in dappled afternoon shade, as they need a full spectrum of bright, indirect light for 4 to 6 hours daily to produce flowers. Plant in well-draining soil high in organic content. Provide supplemental irrigation as needed, but avoid overwatering. Prune lightly and often to help with branching. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer annually in the Spring.
Indoor Growing: Brugmansias are not recommended for growing indoors. They require full sun, high temperatures, and high humidity, which makes them unsuitable for indoor growing environments.
Climate: Brugmansias are tropical plants. They are recommended for growing outdoors in USDA Zones 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, overall vigor, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures, and do not take factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variances into consideration.
