Country of origin: USA Brugmansias, or Angel's Trumpets, as they are commonly called, grow up to make large multi stemed semi-trees that bloom in cycles of large, upside down hanging, trumpet shaped flowers.  They are easy, very rewarding to grow, and make interesting garden specimen plants.  Not only do Angel's Trumpet lend a very romantic, elegant, 'Wisteria Lane' sort of look in a tropical to subtropical landscape, but the flowers are highly fragrant, especially at night and attract butterflies & hummingbirds as well.
Generally they come in shades of pink, peach, white and yellow, and will bloom a least 2 or 3 times each year, although the cycle is unpredictable and seems to be controlled by temperature light.
Pink Perfection or Perfektion is an especially pretty, heavy blooming, showy cultivar, with long lasting, large whiskered, flower within flower doubles in shades of rosy, to peach toned, creamy pink. It is moderately fragrant with a light, slightly spicy, citrus toned scent. The parentage is unknown. The registered spelling is with a k.Â
Pink Perfektion was registered in 2002 by Anne Kirchner Abel.
- Brugmansias, or Angels Trumpets, are fast-growing, tropical shrubs with beautiful, trumpet-shaped flowers. They are highly fragrant at night and lend a romantic feel to any garden location. Mature plants will cycle into bloom several times during the warm season and are a nectar source for night pollinators such as Luna moths.
- Pink Perfection (Perfektion) is a registered Brugmansia hybrid that matures as a tall, upright shrub with textured, medium green, pointed-oval leaves. Flowers are large 10 to 12-inch whiskered, flower in a flower double trumpets in shades of creamy rose to peach pink. It is moderately fragrant at night with a light, slightly spicy, citrus-noted scent. The registered name is Perfektion with a k.
- Care: The most suitable planting location for Brugmansia is in dappled afternoon shade, as they need a full spectrum of bright, indirect light for 4 to 6 hours daily to produce flowers. Plant in well-draining soil high in organic content. Provide supplemental irrigation as needed, but avoid overwatering. Prune lightly and often to help with branching. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer annually in the Spring. Protect from frost and freezing.
- Indoor Growing: Brugmansias are not recommended for growing indoors. They require full sun, high temperatures, and high humidity, which makes them unsuitable for indoor growing environments.
- Climate: Brugmansias are tropical plants. They are recommended for growing outdoors in USDA Zones 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, overall vigor, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures, and do not take factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variances into consideration. Individual growing environments can vary from the average.
