Our Alto Leek is an improved variety featuring greater uniformity and height. It is very versatile and makes a delicious alternative to green onions either raw in salads or lightly cooked. Be sure to harvest early for lithe, bunching leeks. And keep in mind that this is not a winter-hardy variety. Best in early summer.

WHEN TO PLANT

For best results, direct-seed in early spring or start transplants at 60-80°F 10-12 weeks before planting date.

GROW PATTERNS AND TIMING

Plant your Alto Leek seeds about 1/4-inch deep approximately 4-6 seeds per foot with 24-30" between rows. Your leek seeds will take 7-14 days to germinate and should reach full maturity within 60-75 days.
