Early Jalapeno (Capsicum annuum) 65 days to maturity. Matures early and produces an abundant crop of chiles over the entire season. Grows well in cool temperatures also. Plants are 24" tall and pods are 3" long and 1" wide with thick flesh. Pick dark green full size peppers or leave on the plant another 2 weeks to mature to red color. Heat Level: Hot - Scoville Heat Units 7000-9000.

  • A short season pepper ideal for all climates. Voted the most popular pepper in USA.
  • Jalapenos from the garden can be used fresh in salsas, or sliced in rings for nachos or marinades.
  • The best way to preserve jalapenos is to wood smoke dry them. When red jalapenos are dried this way they become 'chipotles'.
  • Chipotle is that wonderful smokey hot flavor in many sauces like BBQ.
  • Jalapeno jelly, relish, poppers, pickled slices for nachos, and much more can be made in one season with just a few plants.
